What’s up my darlings? ♥
A few weeks ago I got super happy mail from Prima Marketing.
They sent me their upcoming watercolor pan set in Celestial, which is scheduled to be launched at the end of February. They wanted me to be able to play with it a little bit earlier than that (that’s how much they spoil me ♥) and so they sent me the palette in mock up packaging. (How awesome is that?)
{January 2018 update: for some reason unknown to me, Prima decided not to launch the Celestial pan set. However they are currently launching three new pan sets that I can’t wait to try.}
I already have in my collection from the same “Color confections” line, the “Classics” “Tropicals” and “Decadent Pies” pan sets and I truly love them all. You can find more info about them in this post.
The minute I got the palette in the mail I swatched it on the spot in my Instagram stories. As usual, I was very impressed with how pigmented these are.
What’s so special about this Celestial pan set?
All the colors are either metallic, some of them pearlescent, but overall the majority of them are iridescent. The hues are so beautiful, and they are perfect for mermaids!
For the longest time I’ve been gathering different pearlescent watercolor sets. So far, besides this one I have a $5 I got from Michaels (very “student” quality. Not quite pigmented at all) and some pans in the Kissho Gansai Tambi palette. The latter are pretty and quite pigmented, but they are not iridescent.
I tried very hard, but the pictures don’t do much justice to these beautiful colors:
I tried my favorites while painting this mermaid. Can’t wait to use this pan set for new mythological creatures!
This is the breakdown of the colors I used:
If you are interested in getting this pan set for yourself, check out the Prima Marketing site to stay up to date with their upcoming products and exact launch dates.
Now, I would like to hear from you guys. Do you enjoy experimenting with metallic or iridescent pigments? Any favorites I should try out? 🙂

is this available February 2017 or 2018?

Hi Natasa! I checked in with them and they ended up pushing the launch date to December 2017. Keep an eye on their website around that date!

Hi, really liked your review. I also contacted Prima around September and received the same information, however I contacted them last week to see if they had a launch date and the rep said that Celestial was not coming out and three other un-named sets were coming in January. What are your thoughts?

Hi Denise!! thank you for reading 🙂 oh bummer :'( I really hope this changes later on. But I trust them if they are not 100% satisfied with the product to be launched. They have really high standards and I love all of the sets I own from them. I can’t wait for the unnamed sets to launch now that you told me this :O Enjoy the rest of your day and happy holidays! xoxo
